Poland is hot on the trail of the Three Lions!!!

After beating Northern Ireland 1-0 in Warsaw today, Poland remained only one point back on England with 4 matches remaining in Group 6 Qualifiers for the World Cup.

If Poland can win at Azerbeijan on June 4th, a team they spanked 8-0 last Saturday, and win at home against Wales and Austria, the table could be set for an England-Poland match on October 12th to determine the group winner. The match will take place in England.

Poland and England played back in September with England winning 2-1. If both team win their remaining games, chances are the second place team will make it as well.

Anyways, I am pulling for Poland in Group 6!!!

Cheers Tom! As you know I was worry about games both Azerbeijan and N. Ireland. Fortunatelly Poland team played great and show us everything what we need in football ie. some fantastic goals against Azerbeijan and a character against North Ireland.
England is a favourite in September game but in my opinion surprise is possible. We know this from past. In 1973 situation was very similar. Poland and England were in group. England was big then, Poland team was almost unknown. Last game in group England played against Poland on Wembley. There was 1-1 then and Poland went up to Championship in Germany where get 3th place! World has known some fantastic players like Lato, Deyna, Tomaszewski and Gadocha then.
Im sure that great game ahead of us in autumn. With Krzynowek, Dudek, Smolarek, Zurawski, Bak and Frankowski we can fight even with England. We will see!

 

Poland won again today 3-0 in Azerbeijan!! Poland is now leading group 6, but England has a game in hand. Polska Gola!!!
