Video to go with the announcement: Fulham's Finest

I don't think I've ever seen video clips of the Maestro, on the club website or otherwise.

This is a fantastic move by the club and it is a well deserved memorial for our greatest ever servant. Not many clubs in these days have players that stay so loyal and I can say that no player at a club at our level will ever have a player like him.

    The stats:

    18 Seasons at Fulham
    658 Appearances
    158 Goals

I wanted to give those who are interested in this an update:

This is an email I sent out this afternoon:

And from an email I received from the club regarding payments for those who can't attend matches:

I will confirm how any stateside Fulham fans can give money once I have spoken to the club.

Just bumping this back up. The video is mandatory viewing. Always hard to compare eras, but you can tell by the way he ran he was a tremendous athlete. Favorite still photo is through the net in the foreground with fist raised over his head (reminded me of Big Mac v Everton last season).

Hats off to LBno11 (and all the other fans) for pushing, organizing, and getting this done.

I have no idea how much a statue costs, but it seems to me that the club should've written a check and done this awhile back. I guess I'm used to the sports franchises over here honoring legendary players w/out asking the fans to help out. The Lakers unveiled a statue of Magic Johnson a couple of years ago at Staples and the team didn't need the fans to take the initiative to get it done.

EDIT; just saw on the official that the proceeds from "Night for Heroes" auction will be going to the fund.

The statue will cost in the amount of £65K and as for the fans stumping up the money, it was the fans decision to do this as the Chairman has gone in his pocket time and time again to make sure we bring quality in the squad.

On top of that, I think the locals here felt they wanted ownership of it. I know I did.

There is lots of fundraising that will be going on. From bucket collections, to the Night for Heroes, to limited addition t-shirts from the official club shop (should I pick some up for you guys?), etc.

We have 20K already do to winning the fair play league. Only 45K to go.

    RE: Haynes Statue Website

Thanks for the front-page article update, ChiTom! Couple of questions arose for me:
    A) Can I assume that a check in US currency is acceptable to them?
    B) How much postage is required to send a standard letter-sized envelope from the US to the UK?

    US$ Johnny Haynes statue donations

...jmh, I cannot answer B), but I can confirm that FFC WILL accept USD donations. Whatever you can donate will be appreciated: The club do not believe that we will reach our targets - I hope we will prove them wrong, thanks again - LBNo11

usps.com tells me that a letter sized envelope costs 94 cents to send it first class to the other side of the pond -- you can get it there with the change you have underneath the seat of your car.

If that isnt a challenge then I dont know what is. Checks in the mail, now if only we could improve the exchange rate.

Someone should fix the headline on the front page talking about a statue to honor "Johnny Hayne".

Great to read on the official about the collection buckets. LBno11 and crew need to be applauded for organizing and building momentum to get this done.

RE: Statue Plinth or Water Feature..?

Obviously NOT a water feature...highly doubt that 'suit' was an actual 'suit'...obviously a clueless whatsit.
