Will be leaving town for a couple days, so wanted to say Happy New Year to all, oh and Fulham are at The Hawthorns to play West Brom on the 1st. Would love to be optimistic, but 2-0 for the hosts is probably the proper scoreline.

The game is on Fox Soccer at 7:45 Eastern (if you can get up that early on New Year's Day)!

Once again, no View on this match. We have our traditional New Years Day afternoon blues jam, and if I do have the opportunity to watch the match before, I won't have time to comment on it.

Yesterday's match showed such an improvement in tactics and attitude that I'm beginning to think that we might be able to get a point there.

I agree with you, Don that Fulham put forth a better effort in the Swansea match. Unfortunately, it seems we have no one with that knack of being in the right place at the right time.....Sorry to say this, but sure miss someone who will not be named.............

Get up early? Just stay up all night... :D Don't see any points coming from this one, but please let me be wrong for the 1,438th time this week.

This is one of those times that I regret being too cheap to shell out the $$$ for Fox Soccer. It's tough enough getting up for 7:00 am games; 4:45 am represents another level of pain-in-the-ass. I'm not going to be carousing tonight, so I might try staying up. Last night I was watching football and forgot to turn on the Sacramento Kings game, so they responded by thumping the Boston Celtics. That leaves me a third option -- if I skip the Fulham game, they'll probably have a spectacular win, so I may decide to do my part to help the team. :handgestures-thumbupleft:

3 points! Away! Yay! Guess we'll be wearing that god-awful orange for a while now. That's O.K. if it keeps working! COYW!

It was so nice to enjoy a Fulham match again. It wasn't without it's moments and WBA only turned up for about a half, but we're of the schneid...at long last.

I'd still like to see us playing a more direct, attacking style. When we moved the ball upfield quickly, we got our goals. The first came when Dejagah made a run down the wing, dangled his defender out of his boots, and slotted a nice ball over to assist Berbatov. The second came from a Murphy-esque chip from Ruiz that Kaca coralled just outside the the 18 yd box and slipped past an overagressive Ben Foster after turning both of his defenders the wrong way. I felt we played the horizontal (and subsequently backwards) passing game far too much and probably left goals on the table, especially in the first half when WBA were off their game and on their heels. Berbatov and the Greek in particular seemed to grind many of our attacks to a halt.

It's funny, but in the 2nd half I'd said in the chat room that if Berba is going to insist on dropping back to play the 10, I'd move Ruiz to cm for Karagounis and put a striker on. Well, I'll be damned if Jol didn't do just that. I don't fault the Senderos sub either, so good on the manager for getting it right and making logical substitutions for a change. The way I see it, our defense is equally poor whether we're attacking, defending or playing a possession game. So why not play to our strengths and just try to outscore the opposition like we did early in the season.

WBA created enough chances that we could have lost or drawn this one and I wouldn't have been surprised. But Stockdale was solid after a shaky start and the back four each came up big at various times. Hughes in particular headed away a likely goal and Briggs on the wing made a couple of nice one v one stops to thwart the WBA attack before it ever got going. Hangeland even dominated in the air a few times...like his old self.

For MotM, I'm going with Alex Kacanicklic. He wasn't perfect and his brilliance came in spurts, but he was aggressive in attacking WBA, setup some chances and got the game winning goal. You could go with any number of folks in this one and after our recent run of form, that's refreshing.

Glad I got up early for this one, we had a good time in the chat....even if the mood didn't always match the end result. Winning cures many things.

    COYO(ranje)?

Wow, Lukaku looked WAY offside on their goal, didn't he? Or am I just dreaming?

Looked a step offside to me but it was close. In the end, I'm somewhat surprised it wasn't called.

Did you go w/option 3 sac? I went that route as well and didn't check the score until the match was over.. :banana-linedance: With no game until the 12th this win will lighten the mood at Motspur.

Slept from 12:30 - 4:30 and then got up to watch the game. Very glad I did. Others in the chat room can confirm that I was there and semi-coherent. ;) A little nap and I was ready for the pointy football marathon!

After the loss on Saturday I donned my 07/08 Great Escape away kit, for the rest of the day, hoping it would bring them luck today, so I know I helped them to the win today :D

Kendall and I watched on TV today and let momma sleep late (no not hungover :) ) so I could not make the chat room.

Of course, the one bounce we DIDN'T get was the offside goal against us. Glad it didn't cost us in the end.
