The best move for him or the best move for us?

His father is from T&T and he'll never play for England...if he wants to play internationally and represent his father's country, more power to him. As someone who feels pride not only in his birth country, but in the countries of his parents and grandparents, I would never begrudge anyone following that dream. And sometimes it's not about money...

I agree with Nick here. Playing in a World Cup is most players' dream. T&T has an outside chance of making the Cup each time, so this is Bobby's best chance of playing in one. Not to mention how many careers have been made by good showings in international competition (even the Gold Cup counts, ever other time).

I hear ya, but they are at the bottom of the table. Its one thing to play for your ancestral home in a world cup...but I'm not sure I see the allure in playing for them in a virtually-hopeless qualifying attempt.

I guess time is against him, and he figures he may not be up to the task for the next qualifying cycle, so he is taking his shot now.

Have T&T been to Azteca yet? If not, I hope Bob skips that date.

Players one yellow away from suspension: Altidore, Bocanegra, Cherundolo, Clark, DeMerit, Dempsey, Donovan, Feilhaber and Casey.

I have a creeping nervousness/excitement about these two matches, not so much Saturday's, but the next fixture in T&T could be tricky if the US suffers another injury or suspension.

Enough negative nancy though...absent a bad red card, I really believe the US will make a statement and boat race ES tomorrow.

Nobody in the chatroom - so I am here just talking to myself!
Spector has not been playing well - another poor service.
Benny has been getting pushed off the ball and the decision to put Lando out on the wing seems suspect because he looks the speediest and most dangerous player out there.
Its good to see Jozy out there - it is obvious that the defense is not up to dealing with his strength.
Wow - Jozy was well onside... that was a terrible call!
Yikes - I know we want to get the insurance goal, but lets not throw everyone forward and get beat on the break!
Seems like Demps should have done better on his break.
Any time Marshall is 1v1, I am waiting for the penalty to be called because he looks right on the verge of giving one up.
Uh oh - Holden. Maybe push Lando up top?

Ok - it is official - these referees are killing us.
Good movement - El Salvador is starting to look tired... Time to pound a few more in.
Beckerman? Huh - well - it is his home crowd, and he has a great work rate. Benny never really did anything this time around. I dont see him as being a starter - 70th minute when we are wearing a team down and we need a little creativity is when he should be seen.
10 min left. Looks like it is Demps who has pushed up. Torres in and now Lando pushed up - seems like a good decision - Fresh legs in the midfield and 2 big goal threats up top.
    5 min.
AHhhhhhh... Going to give me a heart attack! Timmy to the rescue! Bornstien kept him onside!!
What a save on Torres. Another Chance!
    Only added time left.
    Madness in the area!

    WE GET THE 3 POINTS!!

Well - Holden put in some good service, Torres showed his speed. Beckerman didnt do much.

Ok - done talking to myself.

I have been defending Bob Bradley for months on this site, but I swear to god if I see Bornstein in a USMNT shirt one more time ... . Jensers, I agree with you that Benny and Spector had their shakey moments [as did Boca, and Dempsey]but Bornstein looked incapable of even controlling a rolling ball tonight.

Odd thought #1: Jozy was a perfect example of the conundrum of the striker. 95% of the time he was out there, he looked like a clumsy kid trying to play with the big boys, 5% of the time he scores two glorious goals. Amazing

Odd thought #2: Tale of two subs ... Holden comes on, dominates the right wing, and nearly makes us two goals. Beckerman comes in and plays like Bornstein with a bad haircut.

Odd thought #3: Howard [with ENTIRELY TOO MUCH HELP FROM BORNSTEIN] gives up the opener by inexplicably running as hard as he can to get into a bad position, and then saves the points inthe last 10 minutes with an amazing save from point blank range.

Association football is the very best game in the world. Having said that, I think ClevelandMo may take up squash or lawn bowling after this one.

I'd have joined you, Jensers, but I just finished watching in on DVR.

I was watching my 3 yr old nephew and figured I could preoccupy him with tv and toys and watch the match in the next room. Bad plan, should have dvr'd it. I only caught 20 total minutes (in pieces) but I did see the disallowed goal. Did they ever figure out why, or was it just a bad call as it appeared?

Sounds like the problem areas are the same, but I'll take the 3 pts and hope Bob can sort it out and/or someone steps up.

I was watching in Spanish and they made it clear it was a terrible call. Oh well- water under the bridge now.

Thanks for reading my ramblings - I had a 5 yr old, a 2.5 yr old, and a wife making dinner for company and I needed something for my fingers to do so mine didn't end up looking like Socal Joe's!

Good points hatter- I am wondering why it appears that we still don't know our best back 4 or center mid, or the outside for that matter. Come to think of it I am not sure we know our best combination up top either!

    Good stuff, Jensers!

Pretty much agree with all of the above and 3 pts is 3 pts.

Seeing Beckerman play made me wish Edu regains his health soon.

Borny will have to learn from this like Boca did in the WC against Ghana. PUT THE BALL OUT FOR A THROW IN!!!!!!!!

It seemed like Bradley was pushed higher than Benny in this game - as if he was the attacking mid and Benny was the holding mid. A couple of times they got caught up too far.

Overall, I do not like the space that we allow our opposition's midfield. ES could not take advantage of space, but better teams will (and have).

Oh yeah, how can Honduran refs be doing our game when we are in a tie with Honduras for qualifying? It was pretty obvious that we were not getting anything close to the benefit of home calls, and it turned out against us in that disallowed goal.

I am convinced that it really makes no difference who our referees are because we are going to get screwed with any crew from CONCACAF.

Apparently, there's no "conflict of interest" in CONCACAF. I can't think of any U.S. professional league in which such a thing (Honduran ref) would be permitted.

If TV has taught me anything, then maybe we can get a crew from Jersey to officiate the RFK match?
