I don't know why, but I found this column uproariously funny. It's like one long backhanded compliment to Fulham.

...But ultimately it does argue that Crouch's best chance to play for England in 2010 would be to come to Fulham. Raise your hand if you thought you'd ever hear a pundit say a player's England ambitions would be best served by joining Fulham. Anyone? Anyone?

i remember Turner standing out when I saw Hull. He doesn't say Hangeland insurance to me, he says Aaron Hughes to the bench. I'd be OK with that.

Turner is really good. He's great on set pieces too. If we sign him, my guess is that Hughes gets shopped around first - I like him, but he's too good to be a backup, and Turner is better.

Wow! A centre-half that's a goal threat on set pieces. We haven't had one of those since ... uh ... since we gave Bocanegra away.

Perhaps Crouch and Turner in the squad would give us MORE THAN ONE HEADED GOAL IN THIRTY-EIGHT LEAGUE MATCHES. [And thanks, Mr. Deuce, for the one we got against Chelsea].

    It's true. He's endlessly amusing.

I'm hoping we get Crouch just for the comedy of a Crouch-AJ pairing. You could make two normal-sized strikers out of parts from both of them.

Going after Turner is a wise move if only because he could represent some serious depth and allow Roy to rotate centerbacks. One of the miracles of last season was how healthy the team was and it would be foolish to expect another season with such good fortune. Especially with the increase in games we're going to see.

Also, someone who can (possibly, maybe, hopefully) head in goals on set pieces would be marvelous. It'll add an extra dimension to an attack that could use them.

I agree, and he's tall. Our back ups and Aaron Hughes are short. I don't see Hull selling him though.

I don't either, but for that kind of money they'd at least have to consider it, wouldn't they?

Wow, strange to consider the possibility that Fulham might be a club offering "that kind of money" for a player.

I hope discussions regarding Montero are conducted with an eye toward the future - is he any better than EJ at this point?

Sigh...I wish FFC had signed the guy mentioned by Lyle in post #1 on this tread...

Yeah, like we're ever going to get the guy who led the Bundesliga champions in goals scored.

I think the discussion about Montero is BS. The guy seems the LAST person that Roy would want, with his off-field baggage.
