anyone know much about the greening fellow from WBA? He seems intent on joining Fulham because after WBA rejected a bid he hands in a transfer request.

and evidently he played the last few months of the 2007-08 season with a double hernia in his knee.

i like that level of dedication.

I was hoping we'd go for him the last time WBA were relegated. He's a good player and has been very loyal to West Brom. He's got that relentless quality that I so admired in Volzy. I just don't know if he's significantly slowed.

One things for sure, he won't loaf on the field, and he'd be a good addition to the squad IMO

I like the move as long as we bring someone else in at striker. Even if we don't, we're probably improved with Nevland or Kamara in his spot, but I'd still like to see an upgrade to build on last season.

From Wikipedia, so take it for what it's worth:
Sounds like a Murphy-type, about two years younger. I'm not convinced that he's going to improve the team significantly, but he's most likely a better depth central midfielder (with experience playing out wide) than Andranik or Baird, and is obviously more experienced than Wayne Brown and other midfielders who might be coming up through the ranks. Depth can definitely make a difference to how a team does though - look how Arsenal was able to tread water when Cesc Fabregas was hurt and they had all that internal strife involving Gallas and Adebayor, and compare it to how Villa fell apart down the stretch because their players were all worn out.

With the exception of striker and LB, I'm not looking at anyone in terms of "better than what we have now." I'm looking at expanding the squad by adding players at or nearly at the level we have now.

If he can keep his mojo, come on Eddie (or Edward  ). I think Woy sees him getting minutes this year.

And I can see ol' Edward running onto a Murphy through-ball in the 86th minute and smashing it past the oncoming P. Cech on August 30th

I would like to see us add another striker, but if we don't, I would still much rather see Nevland instead of Zamora. I am glad he is gone. I don't like strikers who can't finish and though Zamora is good on the ball and good linking up, at least Nevland has seemed pretty clinical with his finishing in front of the net, both last year and the year before, even with his limited playing time.

I hope Eddie puts one past Cech on the 23rd myself.

Now I don't know what to believe.

Um...maybe Woy should talk to the folks that run the website, because as of yesterday morning, it did (and it still) says Fulham accepted the fee.

Be that as it may, it remains to be seen what ROY is looking at.

Very good passer, shows for the ball, and very good at winning and keeping possession. He won't be spectacular, but won't screw up either. So, pretty much a perfect backup central midfielder.
We accepted the fee, but Zamora may still decide not to sign a contract with Hull.

Fulham manager Roy Hodgson has entered the £12m race for Portsmouth striker Peter Crouch. (The Sun)

Hodgson is also considering a move for Columbia international forward Fredy Montero who plays for Major League Soccer side Seattle Sounders (Daily Star)

Arsenal will attempt to lure defender Brede Hangeland from Fulham with the offer of Philippe Senderos as part of a deal worth around £10m (Daily Star)

Leeds' highly-rated midfielder Fabian Delph has attracted an offer from Tottenham, but is also being chased by Fulham. (The Times)

I think that Crouch headline is old news as I think he is going to Sunderland.

Yes, I know, but (not to quibble) that's not even what Roy is saying.

Which, to me, is a direct contradiction of the official announcement that they've accepted a fee.

To me, Nevland is a great impact player off the bench. I love knowing we can bring him on in the 60th minute or so and add a significant scoring threat. I've not seen him enough in full 90 minute stretches to know how he'd do in full matches. I'm hoping we can get Crouch, or another good striker, and have Nevland as an impact sub as well as for added depth, should injuries or the increased number of matches this season take their toll.

Really, really hope Hangeland doesn't get away. He'll be hard to replace.

Sounds like we are interested in Seattle's hot item, Montero. I don't know how well his attitude would work, but he does seem to be quite in form.

And I do know he has stated he's basically just using the MLS as a stepping stone to something bigger and better. Wouldn't mind seeing him playing at the Cottage.

    Edit:

I love being slow to react with "breaking news". Oh well. At least you have something to read for about a minute.

Well, I retract my earlier post. I just watched Nevland score 3 against Perth Glory. He could be a definite starter.

I'd love to see Altidore at the Cottage. I know we were briefly linked to him a few weeks ago but I've not heard much since.
