So I guess we never started a league thread this year.

There haven’t been too many surprises except maybe Everton getting docked ten points for breaching financial rules.

But what just happened at Villa Park? It’s not that Aston Villa beat Manchester City but that City was so toothless. City had 54% of the possession but managed only 2 shots. Let me say that again, Aston Villa held Man City to *2* shots. Meanwhile, Villa peppered the City end with 22 shots (7 on target). I’m surprised that they didn’t win by more.

City are clearly struggling with their midfield. They came into the season without Gundogan anymore, then they lost De Bruyne in the first match, and they have lost all three matches without Rodri - including against Aston Villa. Their midfield can only take so much before they lose the ability to control the pitch.

That game was incredibly entertaining. Villa were clearly the better team, but things were still on a knife's edge the entire match.

I don't want to give away the finish, so if you haven't yet, watch these highlights from Palace vs. Luton:

File that one under "Moments Hatter Don Would Have Loved": his boy, Cauley Woodrow, comes off the bench to produce some late magic for the Hatters. All he does is score!!
