Huddersfield are dreadful, and there are already stories speculating about the gaffer's future. We should be able to beat them anywhere, any time. Sunday afternoon at Bishops Park, or Friday evening at John Smith Stadium. A draw is a setback. A loss is a significant setback. We should win this match, period.

 Got to get used to playing different days again. Just hope we put out a better performance then last year up there, when we hit the post (Schurrle?) in first minute or two and were total ineptitude the rest of the way in a loss.

Fulham has a Sessegnon starting again!

    Bettinelli
    Bryan, Ream, Mawson, Sessegnon
    Johansen, Arter, Cairney
    Cavaleiro, Mitrovic, Knockaert

Subs: Rodak, Christie, Le Marchand, McDonald, Reed, Reid, Kamara

No wins for Huddersfield since February. Don't let that change now Fulham!

Did Odoi get hurt? I am thankful that they didn't just mindlessly slot Christie in at right back and hope it's a good performance from SSess.

Watched last 10 min of 1st half, we had one quality opportunity that I saw, will try to watch the second. FYI, touch wood, the streaming quality on ESPN + is excellent. I signed up for a new season.

Nice header goal by Mitro! Jumped right over the defender who had better positioning IMO.

Excellent goal by Cav! Curler into the far post. 10 min to go.

solid 2nd half and deserved 3 points. never a real threat from Huddersfield, but I think that's more because of their lack of quality.

Well deserved 3 points versus a very uninspired Huddersfield side. Couple dicey moments at back in the final 10. We looked good over the 55 minutes I watched. Arguably could have had another goal or two with some better shots and a couple of fine saves by their keeper.

Watched the whole match "live" and I thought we looked the better team throughout. Two weird things: 1. neither I nor the players nor the announcer knew that Huddersfield had equalized. It was a solid goal, but had they not extended goal line technology to the lower levels, they'd have been shut out.
    2. both the announcer and I thought that Knockheart [or whatever] got a good assist. Nope, the best pass Mitro got all day was from a Terrier. Thought it was shitty of their gaffer to pull the player immediately afterwards.

Thought Sess2 played well. Thought Ream was perfect throughout.

I think we should stop assuming that our defense is suspect. Why? Well, we're now playing with two wingers -- real wingers. This does two things: [and forgive long-time readers of my drivel] -- It keeps opponents defenders from clumping around our goal, or, more succintly, it keeps their defense spread. This gives Mitro, StefJo, and Cairney room to invade their goal area. Also, by playing real wingers, the fullbacks are free to DEFEND. It kind of hampers Bryan's forays upfield, but it gives us a five-man defense -- fewer goals against.

The score was great, but the stats imbalance in our favor was especially nice.

I thought the team looked a little shaky in the first half, but much better in the second. I was particularly disappointed in Arter's passing and ball handling in the first half. The team also drives me crazy with holding the ball so long on their half of the field. At the end Huddersfield was giving them space to move to their half of the field, but Fulham wouldn't take it. That lead to Huddersfield having the ball after errant passes that lead to either throw-ins or free kicks. Those situations are less dangerous in Huddersfield's half.

I won't complain any more than that though. I was happiest with Sessegnon's performance (did anyone else hear the away fans giving Stephen the "He's One of Our Own" song treatment? I thought that was nice). I really liked some of the passes he made, even the idea behind some of the ones the didn't quite make it. I'm almost certain Christie wouldn't have chased down that ball headed toward the end-line that led to the second goal. And what a classy shot that was. If not for some great last ditch defending and goal keeping from Huddersfield, Fulham could have easily walked away with a 3-0 win. It was nice to see the team improve as the game went on and gives more hope for the future after a less than stellar first match.

I haven't seen any of the games yet. It's helped to read the comments here.

I've thought about the possibility of the "Tim and Alfie Show", with Sheriff Ream doing the Crocodile Dundee part -- better behave or I'll introduce you to my friend Alfie (Donk). I hope Ream goes back to controlling things at the back the way he did during the promotion season.

Ream got mentioned by Joel Soria at NBC Sports in his roundup of US players working abroad. Unfortunately, Joel apparently can't read a score line: 2C27C463-251F-4C4D-8310-E1EB5980237A.jpeg

Welcome to our small community of irrationally loyal Fulham fans. It's a great place to get together and remind each other that we're not crazy.
