Fulham will face Premier League competition in their first EFL Cup match when they take on Southampton.

At first I thought, "Why can't we be like Swansea and get to play League 2 Cambridge United?". But then I thought "Well at least there is no shame if Fulham goes out in the first round to Southampton as opposed to Cambridge United."

I agree. Remember Oldham Athletic at the Cottage last year?

I ALWAYS say that cup competitions are important, but Southampton?

not carried by ESPN+, although Friday's match IS. I'll track the former and wath the latter.

Looks like they aren't taking this one too seriously with the lineup being announced. 9 changes from Saturday's lineup.

I'm kinda glad that tournament is out of the way. It was good to let some of the other players get out there. From the sound of it Rodak did very well in goal and kept the game close.

    Other results of note:
    • Luton Town beat Cardiff 3-0 - meaning Don will be looking for the personal double over Cardiff on Friday
    • League Two's Colchester beat Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park in a penalty shootout
    • League Two's Crawley Town beat Norwich 1-0
    • Nottingham Forest defeated Derby 3-0, but after the match Derby captain Richard Keogh got into a fight with the Forest ground staff. Reports are that the ground staff of Forest left Keogh with a bloodied face.

As long as we’re gonna make these things a runout for the second string, we might as well at least TRY to win them. Looks like the backups are just as susceptible to high pressure as the starters. Need to work on that.
