Expecting to see 11 new faces on the Cottage pitch if Joka holds to form (and there's no reason for him not to). Perhaps some bright performances from some of the 2nd and 3rd stringers will "motivate" the league regulars next time out against...Bristol City Saturday, also at CC.

Some results of note from yesterday's EFL Cup matches:
    • Preston beat Bournemouth 3-2 at Bournemouth with an extra time goal
    • Norwich defeated Everton 2-0 at Everton
    • Newcastle won 2-0 vs. the Wolves after losing to them by the same score on Saturday

    Starting XI:
    Joronen
    Tunnicliffe, Ream, Madl, Malone
    Adeniran, Johansen
    Edun, Christensen, Piazon
    Woodrow

Subs: Bettinelli, Sessegnon, de la Torre, Kebano, Jozabed, Sigurdsson, Smith

I'm shocked Bettinelli isn't starting. Flummoxed you might say. And Tunnicliffe at right back? Glad to finally see Piazon out there. A night for experimentation. Regardless, COYW!!

UPDATE: I think Bristol has only one starter tonight who also started their most recent Championship match vs. Derby.

It's most likely Edun at fb, Tunni at one of the cdm spots & Adeniran in an attacking mid spot. The offal screws up the formations sometimes.

That felt familiar. Like a match from 2014 or 15. Blech!

The result sucks, but they beat BC in the rematch on the weekend and this will soon be forgotten.

Some Fulham fans need to get a grip. Yes, it was disappointing, but there is no reason to boo! Sheesh

Highlights have been posted. The goalie used a technique on the PK that I didn't think worked above the High School level. He moved to one side of the goal just begging Woodrow to shoot into that gap, then as Woodrow started his approach he scooted down the line to fill in the gap and saving the shot. The last goal from Bristol just barely eked in too. We were so close to winning this one, bummer.

Disappointed for the youngsters and for Ream, who may well not see the pitch again until FA Cup starts, and Bettinelli. All could have used this competition to improve and maybe help us down the road. Again, even with new faces, the defending was poorer and we allowed them way too much space. Still, could have nicked this one with a bit more luck. We deflected the ball squarely to the wing for the cross to the winning shot and goal. But for that and the penalty, still could've been a win. I thought the penalty rules were such that the keeper had to remain in the center on the line. I guess not. I'm surprised more keepers don't try that.
