If true I hope to be proven wrong because this doesn't get me excited for next season.

I am not jumping up and down but I am not upset with Magath continuing forward in the position. For the most part I feel like Magath was stuck in a room with no exit and a steaming pile. All he could really do was throw it at the walls and see what stuck. Some of his changes like inserting Stockdale and Rodallega into the starting eleven and utilizing Dejagah as his supersub worked well while letting Dan Burn try to defend wide right was an abject failure. The one thing I can say for certain about his time at Fulham was at least he tried to fix the on field problems.

I am more than willing to see what Magath can do given a summer window to work with but anything short of a major overhaul will find me disappointed. I am firmly of the opinion that Fulham were relegated becasue Jol was a poor manager and there was just not enough talent in the squad. Jol is gone and it is now time for a drastic overhaul the squad. Magath may or may not be the right man for the job but I am firmly of the opinion that it would be unfair to make that judgement solely on his intial time with Fulham. Hopefully he will prove to be successful.

Agree with is as well. To me it came down tithe players. There appeared to be little drive or desire I them all season long. I'm not sure anyone would have been able to stop the bleeding. Let's see what money comes and goes and what type of team Magath wants in place. Based on what we have all read and seen, I'm assuming he will want players playing with pace for the full 90 minutes. I,for one, am looking forward to seeing a quick front man that can run at the opposition as well as poach goals.

    Cheers,

    Steve

I'm taking a wait and see attitude about this report. I don't put much stock into this unnamed "Fulham spokesperson," but I don't doubt it'll eventually be proved true. Granted we only have a small sample size to deal with while evaluating Felix's fitness to continue as manager, but, given what we already know, I'll be shocked if he's not sacked by Christmas. Does he even deserve the chance to fix it? Not really, but who else are you going to get at this point? I'm not optimistic either, but I'm more than willing to be proved wrong. We'll see what happens about 5:30-6ish Sunday afternoon London time.

I've already voiced my concerns on this. I'll hope I'm proven wrong but suspect I might be glad that we're only on tv 4-6 times next year.

Who knows Aggie, there's noise in the tabloids about Fulham blocking Southampton from talking to Magath. Maybe he will be gone before the season starts. Not likely though.

Why would Southampton want him? I'm confused.

He speaks of himself a bit much for my liking, but I suppose there could be a "lost in translation" element at play as well, if I'm being generous. It does give you a sense of how he's burned so many bridges so quickly in the past.

    That's interesting:
    McGath on Mitroglou:
“I would try to work with him, but he is not used to the English way of football.”
    But, on himself:
“I worked at every level as a player and a manager,” he said. “I worked in Germany and if you follow the last World Cups, Germany does not so bad. So I wonder why you are so critical and thinking somebody who was very successful in Germany, is not able to work here in England in the Championship? I don’t know why.”

since I have been following this at 20,000 feet, But play close attention to other great world leaders, it's pretty apparent that McGath is totally misunderstood.
He's super smart and the REAL problem is that the players, fans, reporters and pundits just don't get him. He's actually miles ahead of all of them. And could do a better job than any of his staff, if he wanted to.
Given time, he obviously would end up at ManUre and take the European Cup.

I haven't been impressed with Magath since he got here and I'm still waiting for some cause to be optimistic, but two things struck me this weekend.

    1. Watching Villa beat Liverpool at the Kop reminded of Fulham victories over the big boys circa 4-5 years ago. Probably b/c some of our former players played a prominent role. Villa have been very patient with Lambert and I'm sure there were times they struggled to see the light at the end of the tunnel with him at the helm. They flirted with relegation several times but now they look like they're being rewarded for that patience. Is it possible we could do the same with Magath? I know Don probably feels this way. I still think his methods and ideas are too archaic whereas I had a better impression of Lambert's body of work pre-Villa. But it's food for thought.

    2. Khan has described himself as a hands off owner who lets the footballing people make the football decisions while he writes the checks. Personally, this is my favorite type of owner, but it does require having good footballing people to leave those decisions to. With a board consisting of CEO Alistair Mackintosh, Mark Lamping from the Jags and Finance Director Sean O'Loughlin, I question whether we have that in place. As such, can we trust that group to do any better in replacing Magath? Their track record since firing Jol is less than impressive. I'm convinced they have no clue how to build a roster for today's football. So unless a new manager has a large say on that front, we're probably marginally better removing Magath at best.

All I know is Mr. Fog, even at 20,000 feet, could have Fulham where this misunderstood, non-film watching, cantankerous Peter Lorre look alike has them... 24th place??? Says it all really.
