Well, I had a pretty busy morning and just saw the score. Also reading twitter, don't see much positives from the game on that. Everyone there is waiting for Mr Magath to be shown the door.

There are no more excuses after this abomination. Thirteen days preparation with a fully fit squad to choose from, and he changes the keeper and inserts the newest player from a lineup that was producing positive play. The free fall continues unabated.
Sadly, it's time to sack yet another in a string of disappointing managers. To delay the inevitable at this point is to ensure another drop.

I've been trying to think that there is some method to Magath's madness, but that doesn't seem to be the case. We're going in the wrong direction and Magath doesn't seem likely to turn it around. It is a long season, there is still time to recover, but we'll need someone else to show the way.

I closed my eyes while watching the Aston Villa/Liverpool match and it almost felt like a Fulham win with Senderos, Richardson, and Bent all seeing action. Imaginary wins is as good as it gets these days.

For the first time in a long time, I didn't listen to GJ, didn't watch an online stream, didn't go in the chat room and didn't even look up the score until an hour after the match had ended. And this is the calmest I've felt about a loss in years. As a result, I can't offer too much commentary on the mess that took place in Reading other than a few observations.

Looking at the starting lineup. I don't understand sitting Bettinelli. The kid had 2 good outings and, while he wasn't put under much pressure in those matches, he didn't deserve to be dropped.

    Apparently he didn't understand either:

Coming into the match, Reading had generated 52% of their attack from the right so the decision to sit Stafylidis and go with the very green Kavanaugh struck me as odd. Staf was on the bench, so it wasn't an injury issue. Now Kavanaugh may have done quite well, I don't know. One of their goals came from a cross from the left and one from a corner, so it didn't cost us in that regard. However, on the third goal, the runner (Blackman) came in from the right ahead of Kavanaugh, so maybe it hurt us on that one.

I see we got the usual litany of excuses from Magath after the match, this time blaming the officiating. The part that bugs me is this:
Really? No plan B, huh? Why is it, when our opponents go down to 10 men we wind up in a dogfight to hold them off, but when it happens to us we roll over and get dominated? Watching the replay of the 2nd goal, I don't see what he's referring to with Kiraly. Looks like he took a bad angle going for the punch and Murray nicked inside and got his head to the ball ahead of Kiraly.

Looks like someone else isn't impressed with the quality on display either:
    Maybe he'd consider a player/manager role.

well, I don't know what more can be said of this squad's performance thus far. i'm ambivalent. if claudio ranieri was the "tinkerman," i ponder the appropriate name for felix.
