Interesting he signs an extension before going out on loan.

Don't see the surprise. He gets his move, we ensure we don't lose him for nothing. Probably couldn't work out a permanent move. Good bet we sell him next summer, imo.

We're giving a master class on how not to sell this summer.

Likely so his price tag will be higher when we sell him next summer.

I was thinking that, but I don't think I have seen a player signed to an extension and loaned out in the same day. I was, also, thinking maybe he wants to come back if there's another manager that comes along. I believe he stated early in the summer that he wanted to stay at Fulham before the lack of playing time comment.

Sounds like we got Matt Smith from Leeds for 500k, and it could possibly be a 3 year deal.

    confirmed: http://www.fulhamfc.com/news/2014/september/01/smith-signs-for-fulham

It is 3 years with an option to extend another year.

And that's that. Not a lot in but we didn't offload the players we were anticipating to leave...yet. Perhaps some loan deals coming up?

Someone mentioned that a few leagues have transfer windows open on twitter. Anybody here know which ones and if Bryan would be interested in a move there? Jeez, we couldn't offload Ruiz after a decent World Cup?

Russia's open. Turkey signed someone else and to my understanding, their window is now shut, so that would appear to be the end of the Besiktas move for Ruiz. What happens with him now is anyone's guess. Same for Amorebieta? Last I read his move fell through.

There are still potential loan moves that can be made but don't know if that's just loaning in from the Prem or if we can still loan players out.

I like the Smith signing. With McCormack playing all over the park, a good hold up man seems like a good fit. Gives us time to bring Woodrow along at his own pace instead of throwing him in the deep end where he's struggled to find the back of the net. If striker is a confidence position, taking some pressure off the kid might help.

Rodallega has tweeted that he's chosen to stay over some of the offers that came in.

And once again we've skipped over the cm position. We're going nowhere relying on Parker. I know Don thinks my feelings on him are irrational but I'm putting together a piece from the last match to demonstrate why I differ in my opinion of Parker from many of our supporters.

Also would have liked to see a rb come in, but that's b/c I like Hoogland better as a cdm and am not convinced by Voser yet. I doubt the folks at the club see it the same way though, so I'm not surprised nothing happened there.

I believe that loans can still happen outside of the transfer window. I don't know the deal about Amorebieta, but I think not playing/transferring Ruiz has more to do with the late reporting due to the World Cup than "Felix doesn't like him."

And Senator, I would have thought you'd have gone through this with new managers before. The first thing Roy did after "The Great Escape" was to dump a butt-load of players -- Bocanegra, Keller, Staltieri, and my beloved Volz among them, players who helped us avoid the drop. A new man wants his own men. It happens in every league with every new manager -- well professional soccer anyhow.

I have, and I understand managers shaping the team to their liking. I have no problem with that. I think you misunderstood my comment above with other Fulham fan's misgivings against Magath being displayed ad nauseam. I am not really blaming Magath for anything yet. Well, other than I think he is too quick with so many changes to the line-ups and puts players out of position from time to time for no reason.

So here's the list I had of who stayed and who's gone - my apologies for any errors. ("Gone" does not include those who's contracts simply expired)

GONE (when I originally posted the list of players under contract on May 23 Hatter Don said 6-10 wouldn't be with us in September, and whaddya know - there are 10 guys on this list!):
    1. Alexander Kačaniklić
    2. Ashkan Dejagah
    3. Brede Hangeland
    4. David Stockdale
    5. Kieran Richardson
    6. Konstantinos Mitroglou
    7. Maarten Stekelenburg
    8. Pajtim Kasami
    9. Ryan Tunnicliffe
    10. Sascha Riether

STAYING (These were all part of the first team at some point last year)
    1. Bryan Ruiz (technically still part of the club)
    2. Cauley Woodrow
    3. Dan Burn
    4. Elsad Zverotić
    5. Fernando Amorebieta
    6. Hugo Rodallega
    7. Larnell Cole (playing only U-21 now)
    8. Scott Parker

PROMOTED (Played mostly U-21 or U-18 Last Year)
    1. Cameron Burgess
    2. Chris David
    3. Emerson Hyndman
    4. George Williams
    5. Jesse Joronen
    6. Lasse Vigen Christensen
    7. Marcus Bettinelli
    8. Moussa Dembélé
    9. Patrick Robers
    10. Ryan Williams
    11. Sean Kavanagh

    ADDED
    1. Adam Taggart
    2. Adil Chihi
    3. Dino Fazlic
    4. Gabor Kiraly
    5. Kay Voser
    6. Kosta Stafylidis
    7. Mark Fotheringham
    8. Matt Smith
    9. Nikolay Bodurov
    10. Ross McCormack
    11. Shaun Hutchinson
    12. Thomas Eisfeld
    13. Tiago Casasola
    14. Tim Hoogland
The list of how many guys came up from the junior squads is what really sticks out to me. And not only is the list of returning players small, many of them really don't have any part to play on the current team.

I believe the final count (including expiring contracts) is 19 out & 14 new players in. Then you have those promoted from the academy. You're missing Ryan Williams from that list.

This is a HUGE turnover -- and one which I believe was sorely needed for a couple of years. There should be no wonder that Felix is taking a time figuring who his best game-day squad is. I think he's getting close to that now.

I believe we're younger, stronger, fitter, and more mobile. There's a fair amount of young talent there. I NEVER thought we were a good bet for promotion. With the size of this turnover, promotion would be little short of a miracle, but I think those who think we're going to be relegated because "Felix doesn't know what he's doing" are equally out of order here.

I'm going to spend the rest of the season enjoying the football we're playing -- something I've missed sorely for almost 3 seasons now.

Also, as we are now a Championship club, we can still sign players on loan until the season is over.

Not ideal, but certainly a detail worth noting.

One thing is certain. It's going to be an interesting 11 days of practice at Motspur before visiting Pavel Pogrebnyak's Reading Royals at Madejski Stadium. The ghost of Vince Lombardi may hover over the old University of London grandstand.

A Mitroglou goal assisted by Kasami turned out to be the match winner in Olympiakos victory over Atletico Madrid in Champions League group play today.
