National Spelling Bee

Postby Clevelandmo » Wed May 30, 2012 2:57 pm

I guess it's going on at the moment so USA Today published the list of winning words for each year the competition has taken place. What's interesting, but I guess not surprising, is that up until the 1980s I think we all would have stood a pretty good chance at getting the winning word correct (or at least know the meaning of the word). What's also funny is that this site is indicating to me that several of the words in the list are misspelled. Anyway, here is the list.

I lost one of these once in Elementary School. Forgot the damn C in Connecticut. I vowed never to play this game again.

My wife's lineage was not cymotrichous. Except for one brother who had a curly fro in high school.

Is her hair serrefine?

Okay I'm sure that's not the correct use of the word but you know what I mean.

Her hair is fine and straight but it does not in any way resemble a medical clamp. :o
