Definitely a character...RIP.

The fact that always made me shake my head about Chinaglia is that he tried out for 3rd division Swansea City as a teenager and was told he had no future in the game. The best thing about him growing up in the UK was his facility with English that kept him employed when his footballing days ended.

The seasons he lead SerieA in scoring occurred during the Cattanachio days, when there was rarely more than 1 goal scored in any match TOTAL. He always logged a good toll when scoring was scarce.

Sirius/XM repeated todays "The Football Show" which was a tribute to Giorgio all day except for when the Manu match aired. Many people called in, including SAF who took time out from a matchday, to talk about Chinaglia.

RIP to a fantastic player.

And, I knew he was prolific in NASL, and elected to the US HOF, but didn't know his goal rate was almost a goal per game. Dang!

This guy was one of the few soccer players I heard anything about as a kid. A true all time great. And a VERY cool name to boot....just kind of rolls of the tongue pretty seemlessly. RIP Signor kee-NOLL-ya!
