Strange days

Postby DCHeather » Thu Dec 15, 2011 7:22 pm

I know people are still feeling down about the loss...I know I am. But what better way to cheer up than to post weird, and/or humorous news stories or videos. I start off with this one:

Are your children misbehaving at school? Are your loved ones suffering from medical ailments? Is your home infested with bedbugs?

If you answered yes to all of these questions, you'll be happy to know that there's a simple reason you are experiencing these seemingly unrelated misfortunes: Your dog is possessed by a demon.

And, thankfully, there's a simple solution: A $197 pendant sold by a woman who claims her poodle was inhabited by a demonic spirit.

But wait, there's more!

New York artist Olga Horvat started designing demon-deterring accessories after she adopted Princess, a pure-bred toy poodle that she credits -- or blames -- for literally tearing her life into pieces.

Horvat claims that soon after Princess arrived in her home, bad luck befell the family, including a bedbug infestation that led to $7,000 in exterminator fees from her co-op as well as legal fees to fight an eviction.

In addition, her husband was in a serious car accident and came down with a rare autoimmune disease called Churg-Strauss Syndrome. Then Horvat's daughter was almost expelled from second grade for offending classmates with an action that was perceived to be bigoted when she put on a rubber glove then grabbed the bare hand of a Muslim friend -- an action
the child blames on a strange voice she heard in her head.

Uh-huh. The strange voice inside my head defense. Well played little girl, well played.

This little tid bit was especially interesting:

It seems a dog whose ears point up is more prone to possession than one with floppy ears, perhaps "because the spirit can get in there easier," she said.

Yup...but you can still get that pointy eared demon dog as long as you buy a $197 pendant. Awesome. I'll take two. One for each ear, of course.

Great idea Heather. Soccer in general has been getting the best of me these days.

Hopefully this will make you laugh, especially considering the economy. Be prepared for bad language though.

Strange days, indeed.

Thankfully, I have cats, so I don't think I need worry about them being possessed.

Since I think we all need a laugh, here's my contribution to the humor pile (again, there's some "adult" language):

That was pretty good you two. I had seen Mo's before, but it was good to see it again.

I never heard of Dara O Briain before. My husband and I like to rent comedy stand up from time to time. I'll have to see if we can get anything by this guy the next time.

*I don't agree with all of the quotes, but some are quite amusing.

This storyreminds me of the Animal House supermarket scene.

Ronald Broadway, 45, was arrested Thursday night in the parking lot of his local Food Lion supermarket, packed with enough meats and fish intended for a birthday and holiday celebration, police said.

While in the store on Thursday night, Broadway was spotted by a Food Lion employee, who had caught Broadway sticking the food down sweatpants he wore under his jeans, Salisbury Police Capt. Sheila Lingle told CBS Charlotte. Broadway had allegedly duct taped the sweat pants around his ankles to keep the food from falling out.

most the clip is of Eric Stratton and Mrs. Wormer, fortunately. :D

I actually thought he had already passed. RIP Mr. Hitchens. I always enjoyed hearing his opinions. An articulate voice with opinions that needed to be voiced and heard.

Thanks for posting Heather. My favorite quote, of course, was the one about Michael Moore.

After Friday's match, I think we need some humour [sic].

This is from Bill Bailey's "Dandelion Mind" tour. I liked the tour (and him) so much I saw it in London and New York. He's been around a while, starting with the pub circuit in the West Country. Although not the funniest bit of the evening, it still is worth a watch.

Good one.

This one is pretty old, saw it the other day on some blog, but it still makes me chuckle.

Was browsing the front page of YouTube and found this. Definitely fits under the "strange" category. Very cool though!

I can't believe as a runner and youtuber that I just found this:
