aaawwww, how sweet.

I know it's in poor taste but I believe Michael's wife is a former tennis player from a div. 1 school - future star there with any offspring?

Apparently headed from Chievo Verona to the Stadio Olimpico and AS Roma. Hope they don't treat him as badly as Villa did. I think he's earned a lot more respect after last season, so I don't think he'll end up riding the pine, as some have already suggested.

I wouldn't bet the house on this transfer. Bradley is linked with Roma because it has new American owners -- the same as Fulham is linked with anyone Dutch or anyone who has played in the Eredivisie. Lazy journalism.

Chievo have cooled reports that Michael Bradley is on the verge of completing a move to Roma, suggesting that negotiations between the clubs aren’t over.

Bradley’s arrival in the capital for a medical prompted his agent to hint that the expected transfer could be completed in time for the American to join Roma’s players in their training retreat, which started just today.

However, the Mussi Volanti’s sporting director Giovanni Sartori has suggested that this may not be possible, as Chievo have not yet agreed terms with the Giallorossi on his sale.

“I cannot deny that the player is having his medical examinations with the Giallorossi, but the deal is not yet concluded,” Sartori told pagineromaniste.com.

“We are still discussing the players to come to us in exchange. In addition to Leandro Greco, there is a range of Roma players that we like and are considering.

“Bradley cannot join Roma’s pre-season retreat. We must wait, we’ll see what happens today.”

Don, I wouldn't bet the house against this happening. This deal will most likely happen, it's not just lazy journalism. It may not be the best move for Bradley, because a starting spot is far from certain. I hope it wouldn't be another Gooch situation.

But they're still working out the details, so the deal can still fall apart.

It now sounds like a deal has been worked out and they're now just down finalizing the paperwork.

http://www.mlssoccer.com/news/article/2 ... amp-monday

AMSTERDAM — Chievo and AS Roma have finally settled on a transfer fee for Michael Bradley, with a package of 3.6 million euros, half-ownership of Adrian Stoian and a season loan for Leandro Greco in exchange for the US midfielder.

A source close to the situation told MLSsoccer.com that the deal is down to paperwork, with Roma manager Zdenek Zeman hoping to have Bradley at their preseason camp in the northern Italian hamlet of Riscone on Monday. The 24-year-old New Jersey native passed his medical and inked a four-year contract on Thursday.

The transfer caps a 14-month Giallorossi crush, with technical director Walter Sabatini recently telling local reporters that the club would have chased Bradley last summer if the necessary non-European Union roster slot had been available.

After hosting a friendly against Romanian second flighters Turnu Severin next Saturday, Bradley and his new teammates will fly to the United States for a three-game tour. They'll take on Poland's Zaglebie Lubin at Wrigley Field in Chicago (July 22), Liverpool at Fenway Park in Boston (July 25) and El Salvador's national team at Red Bull Arena (July 27).

Crossing my fingers on him getting playing time. It would be great if he got the playing time with such a team in Italy.

Should be a good summer for him. Wrigley, Fenway and back near home in Red Bull Arena...PLUS a little coin in his Kappa's. Yes, a good summer indeed.

I hope he does. Btw...not a bad way to get some shameless PR and jersey sales for their club while their in the states. If they're smart, they'll play the American at every venue since these are just friendlies. Of course, if I had a nickel for every time I was on the wrong side of an "if they're smart" fiat, I'd have a little more coin in MY kappas as well.

I just hope he doesn't ride the pine most of the season. He's too good for that.

Not to hijack this Bradley thread, but Terrence Boyd had a sweet goal against Bradley/Roma today:

And here is a photo of the two from today:

Ha! And Bradley was right there, no?

I've sworn an allegiance of sorts to INTER, but I have a strong like for ROMA, their club, their players.
